Roadworks on the Chaussée de Mons
Major roadworks have started along the Chaussée de Mons, mainly at the Square Albert ! As a result, a section of the Chaussée de Mons will temporarily be closed, affecting several nearby streets, including the Quai de l'Industrie, where is situated our main logistic and parking entrance.
A detour is in place via Rue des Goujons. Follow the orange signs N6. We will soon install our own signage Abattoir to make it easier for all.
If you want to avoid this detour, just drive via the Chaussée de Ninove and take the Rue Léon Delacroix. Once you passed the canal bridge, turn to the right and use the Rue Jules Ruhl (parking Delacroix), or drive further along the canal to Quai de l'Industrie n° 168 for deliveries.
This large-scale project is divided into five phases, with the goal of creating more public space in several squares, including Square Albert I. At the same time, new cycling and pedestrian paths will be built.
For now, the section of the Chaussée de Mons near the Abattoirs is not yet affected, but traffic disruptions are expected once the next stages of this renovation project come into effect in 2026 or 2027.

The design office (consortium ORG - Bureau Bas Smets) has been working since 2021, incorporating the views of local residents and grassroots associations as far as possible.
- A coherent public space
The creation of green spaces and seating areas, the embellishment of the pavements, the installation of fountains, the creation of steps down to the canal and the use of quality materials will create a strong visual identity and make the space more attractive to residents and visitors. The canal is visually and functionally integrated into the new public space.
- A multimodal space
A mobility hub will facilitate interaction between different modes of transport, such as buses, trams, bicycles and pedestrians. This hub will provide better connections between the various players involved in mobility. The aim is also to improve the commercial speed of public transport and the flow of traffic.
- A secure space
Safety is a priority for the project. The Vandervelde intersection area has been the scene of serious accidents in the past, including fatalities. Traffic has been redesigned to minimise conflicts, with improved signage and well-defined and protected routes/zones for active modes of transport.
